Schneider Electric has unveiled its next-generation fully integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), aimed at strengthening grid resilience and accelerating India’s renewable energy transition. The solution was launched during the recently concluded Schneider Electric Innovation Summit India 2026.
The company said the new “cell-to-grid-to-cell” BESS platform is designed to enable predictable, revenue-generating energy storage while supporting stable, flexible and intelligent energy systems. As India continues to scale renewable energy capacity, energy storage is becoming critical for ensuring grid reliability and efficient power management.
The battery-agnostic and PCS-forward architecture of the system allows seamless integration with leading battery providers, simplifying deployment and accelerating commissioning timelines. Schneider Electric stated that the platform combines utility-grade electrical infrastructure with advanced digital technologies including Energy Management Systems (EMS), Distributed Energy Resources Management Systems (DERMS), Power Plant Controllers (PPC) and Microgrid Control systems.
Speaking on the launch, Deepak Sharma said energy storage will play a fundamental role in maintaining grid stability as India expands its renewable energy ambitions. He noted that intelligent storage solutions would define the next phase of the country’s energy transition.
The platform is designed as a finance-ready asset with predictable lifecycle performance. Schneider Electric said its early-stage Front-End Engineering & Design (FEED) engagement and customised cyber-secure architectures are intended to reduce project risks while enabling long-term value creation for utilities, renewable developers and commercial and industrial customers.
The company also showcased an integrated SKID solution at the Innovation Summit, combining power conversion systems, DC converters, inverter-duty transformers and medium-voltage panels with a unified software stack. According to the company, the system enables real-time optimisation, predictive maintenance and participation in grid and market services.
Udai Singh said modern energy storage systems must deliver long-term performance and predictability while reducing operational complexity for customers.
The solution is powered by Schneider Electric’s ETAP-based design tools and digital services such as Asset Advisor and Microgrid Advisor. The company said these capabilities transform energy storage into an adaptive asset capable of responding dynamically to grid conditions, onsite demand and energy price signals.
