Schneider Electric’s ‘One Unit Mission’ crosses 2.5 lakh participants, driving sustainability

Schneider Electric, a global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has announced that more than 2,50,000 citizens have joined its flagship sustainability initiative, the Green Yodha ‘One Unit Mission’, within just three months of its launch.

The campaign encourages individuals and households across India to save at least one unit of electricity every day through smarter energy consumption habits, helping reduce both energy bills and environmental impact.

The milestone reflects growing public awareness around energy conservation at a time when India’s electricity demand continues to rise. Industry estimates indicate that every rupee invested in demand-side energy efficiency can reduce supply-side infrastructure investments by nearly three times, highlighting the importance of efficient energy usage in achieving the country’s sustainability goals.

Commenting on the achievement, Deepak Sharma, Zone President – Greater India, MD and CEO, Schneider Electric India, said that India’s future energy transition will depend not only on generating cleaner energy but also on using energy more efficiently.

“As India continues to grow, so will our energy needs. At Schneider Electric, we believe the transition to a more sustainable future is not only about producing cleaner energy but also about using energy more efficiently. The cleanest, most sustainable unit of energy is the one we don’t waste. If everyone saves even one unit of electricity a day, the collective impact will be huge. Through the ‘One Unit Mission’, we hope to inspire simple everyday actions that can together create a larger movement towards sustainable living,” Sharma said.

The initiative encourages citizens to adopt practical energy-saving measures such as switching off unused appliances, reducing standby power consumption and embracing energy-efficient technologies. The campaign also promotes smart power management solutions and home automation technologies to help households optimise electricity usage.

Rajat Abbi, Vice President – Marketing, Schneider Electric India, emphasised that the campaign was designed to make sustainability accessible and achievable for everyone.

“The ‘One Unit Mission’ was created with a simple belief that sustainability should feel achievable. Through this campaign, we are encouraging citizens to take small but meaningful steps towards smarter energy use in their daily lives. What is especially encouraging is seeing communities come together and turn individual actions into a larger movement for sustainable living,” Abbi said.

Building on the momentum, Schneider Electric plans to expand the initiative through Resident Welfare Association (RWA)-led community programs, digital participation campaigns, AI-powered consumer engagement initiatives and extensive on-ground outreach activities.

The company envisions transforming the ‘One Unit Mission’ into a nationwide people-led movement that empowers citizens to contribute meaningfully to India’s sustainability ambitions. By inspiring a “Green Yodha” in every household, Schneider Electric aims to encourage smarter energy consumption while fostering a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for the country.
