Renewable energy solutions provider Sunsure Energy has signed long-term solar power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Daeseung Autoparts India Private Limited and Ilgahng Automotive, strengthening the push for industrial decarbonisation in Tamil Nadu. The partnerships will enable both automotive component manufacturers to transition a significant portion of their power consumption to renewable energy.
Under the agreement with Daeseung Autoparts India, Sunsure Energy will supply nearly 8 million units of solar power annually to the company’s manufacturing facility in Kanchipuram. The power will be generated from Sunsure’s 75 MWp solar plant located in Ilayangudi. Through this arrangement, Daeseung Autoparts India is expected to meet close to 60% of its total electricity demand through renewable energy, helping the company offset approximately 5,800 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions every year.
The agreement reflects the sustainability ambitions of the South Korea-based Daeseung Group, which operates globally in the automotive components sector. By integrating solar power into its Indian operations, the group aims to reduce its environmental impact while improving long-term energy cost stability.
Similarly, Sunsure Energy will supply around 4.7 million units of solar power annually to Ilgahng Automotive’s facility in Kanchipuram from the same Ilayangudi solar plant. This transition is expected to help Ilgahng Automotive offset nearly 3,400 metric tonnes of CO2e emissions each year, further advancing sustainable manufacturing practices within the automotive supply chain.
Commenting on the partnership, Shin Sangki, Managing Director of Daeseung Autoparts India, said the company has always focused on responsible growth and sustainable operations. He noted that sourcing nearly 60 percent of its electricity from solar power will significantly reduce the company’s carbon footprint while protecting its operations from future energy price volatility. He also highlighted Sunsure Energy’s strong execution capabilities and experience in delivering reliable renewable energy solutions.
Shashank Sharma, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Sunsure Energy, said the company is pleased to add Daeseung Autoparts India and Ilgahng Automotive to its portfolio of global manufacturing clients. He added that the partnership demonstrates Sunsure’s ability to deliver customised round-the-clock renewable energy solutions to leading industrial players and support Tamil Nadu’s clean energy transition.
Sunsure Energy is currently expanding its footprint in Tamil Nadu with a development pipeline of more than 1,100 MW of round-the-clock renewable energy capacity spanning solar, wind and battery energy storage systems. The company’s expansion in the state is part of its flagship initiative #TamilNattinSakthi – The Power of Tamil Nadu, which aims to provide reliable and sustainable green power to industries.
With renewable energy projects across several states, Sunsure Energy continues to supply round-the-clock clean power to commercial and industrial consumers across India, supporting the country’s broader transition toward sustainable and low-carbon energy systems.
