KPI Green energises 965 MWp, accelerates execution of 2.17 GWp IPP portfolio

KPI Green Energy Limited has successfully energised 965 MWp of renewable energy capacity under its Independent Power Producer (IPP) portfolio, marking a major milestone in its expansion strategy. The latest addition of 376 MWp includes a mix of solar and wind capacities across key projects in Gujarat.

The newly energised capacity comprises approximately 182 MWp solar from projects awarded by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), alongside around 164 MWp solar and 30 MWp wind capacity from a hybrid renewable energy project. This development reflects steady progress in the phased rollout of KPI Green’s large-scale clean energy assets.

With a total IPP portfolio of 2.17 GWp, the company confirmed that the remaining capacity is currently under execution and will be commissioned in phases as per scheduled timelines. The expansion significantly strengthens KPI Green’s position in India’s renewable energy sector while enhancing long-term revenue visibility through power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Dr Faruk G Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Group, described the achievement as a pivotal moment in the company’s growth journey. He highlighted that the milestone underscores strong execution capabilities and aligns with India’s broader clean energy transition goals. He also noted the company’s diversification into solar, wind, hybrid, and energy storage solutions as key drivers of sustained growth and stakeholder value.

A major highlight of KPI Green’s recent developments is the commissioning of its 200 MW (240 MWp) solar IPP project at Khavda Solar Park in January 2026. The project is among the earliest operational assets within the 1.8 GW solar park developed by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited and operates under a long-term PPA with GUVNL.

In addition, the company achieved early commissioning of its 92.15 MWp hybrid renewable energy project, ahead of its July 2026 commercial operation deadline further demonstrating its execution efficiency in complex hybrid projects.

KPI Green is currently developing 250 MW/350 MWp solar and 370 MW/677 MWp hybrid projects under PPAs signed with GUVNL in October 2024. A substantial portion of these projects has already been energised, with full completion targeted by October 2026.

Looking ahead, the company is also executing a 150 MW wind IPP project under a PPA with GUVNL, which has achieved financial closure and is expected to be commissioned by October 2027.

Expanding beyond generation, KPI Green is entering the energy storage segment through its subsidiary Sun Drops Energia Limited. The subsidiary has signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement for 445 MW / 890 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems, strengthening grid stability and enabling better integration of renewable energy.
