Resonia wins 400 kV transmission project in Karnataka to boost southern grid capacity

Resonia has secured a major interstate transmission system (ISTS) project in Karnataka from the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission, marking a significant step toward strengthening the Southern Grid and supporting the state’s growing power demand.

The project will be executed through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), Hampapura Power Transmission Limited, and is designed to enhance grid reliability, improve operational flexibility, and facilitate the integration of renewable energy into Karnataka’s power network.

With Karnataka rapidly emerging as a renewable energy hub driven by large-scale solar and wind installations, the need for robust transmission infrastructure has become increasingly critical. The new 400 kV corridor is expected to play a vital role in evacuating clean energy efficiently while maintaining grid stability.

Commenting on the development, Resonia CEO Prashant Sinha said the project represents a key milestone for the company and a major reinforcement of Karnataka’s transmission ecosystem. He emphasized that as renewable capacity expands at an unprecedented pace, resilient and high-capacity transmission systems are essential to ensure seamless power flow and long-term energy security.

The initiative aligns with India’s broader goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, underscoring the importance of strengthening transmission networks alongside generation capacity.

The project route spans diverse and environmentally sensitive terrains, requiring careful planning, stakeholder coordination, and responsible execution. Resonia stated it will deploy advanced engineering solutions and sustainable practices to minimize environmental and social impact during implementation.
