33/11 KV GIS substation inaugurated in Dehradun

A 33/11kV GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) Sub Station, and RT- DAS (Real Time Data Acquisition system) Control System under the IPDS scheme of Government of India, was inaugurated at Dehradun in Uttrakhand. Power Finance Corporation (PFC) is the Nodal Agency for IPDS scheme.

The inauguration ceremony is part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations marking 75 years of India’s independence. The project was inaugurated by Dr Harak Singh Rawat, Minister of Energy and Alternative Energy, Uttarakhand along with Sowjanya, Secretary (Energy & Alternative Energy), Deepak Rawat, MD, UPCL and Saurabh Kumar Shah, ED (IPDS), PFC.

The GIS substation was sanctioned with a cost of ₹85.99 crore, will benefit more than 5,000 households in areas of Dehradun and the surrounding areas. Whereas the RT-DAS known for automated monitoring of power supply was sanctioned for the cost of ₹4.28 crore.

Further, the substation will reduce the curtailment of power supply, will reduce the land requirement, lower the operational and maintenance cost and also provide safe working environment for the attending personnel.
