BluPine Energy achieves scope 1 & 2 carbon neutrality, advances net zero goals in FY25

BluPine Energy has announced its Sustainability Report for FY 2024–25, marking a major milestone in its transition toward a low-carbon and responsible energy future. The report highlights the company’s progress in environmental impact, social responsibility, and governance practices, alongside its achievement of carbon neutrality in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.

Speaking on the development, Neerav Nanavaty said the company’s growth is deeply rooted in sustainability across the entire asset lifecycle from design and construction to operations and decommissioning. He emphasised that BluPine continues to integrate ESG principles into enterprise-wide decision-making while leveraging innovation and partnerships to deliver reliable and affordable clean energy solutions.

During FY25, BluPine Energy generated 1,469,595 MWh of renewable electricity, helping avoid approximately 1,043,412 tons of CO₂ emissions. A key highlight of the year was achieving carbon neutrality in Scope 1 and 2 emissions through offsets generated internally, signalling a shift from commitment to measurable climate action.

The company also enhanced operational efficiency, with 83% of its sites adopting robotic cleaning systems—leading to an 8.8% reduction in water consumption intensity. This reflects a growing focus on sustainable resource optimisation while scaling operations.

BluPine Energy reported zero fatal incidents during the year, supported by over 39,500 hours of safety training. Its community outreach expanded significantly, with more than 1,000 CSR initiatives, 99 community consultations, and outreach to over 73,800 beneficiaries.

Skill development remained a core priority, with over 1,000 individuals trained across 23 centres, achieving a 79% employment rate post-training. Notably, women accounted for 45% of participants, reinforcing the company’s commitment to inclusive growth.

The company maintained strong governance standards, reporting zero cases of corruption, bribery, or data breaches, and no violations of its Code of Conduct. It also became a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, strengthening its global ESG alignment.

Additionally, 99.9% of procurement spending was directed toward local suppliers, while 80% of key suppliers were evaluated on ESG parameters supporting both local economies and supply chain accountability.

With over 1.5 GW of operational renewable capacity, BluPine Energy is targeting a long-term expansion to a 4+ GW platform in India. Sanjeev Bhatia highlighted that sustainable financial performance is driven by disciplined governance and long-term planning, with sustainability increasingly embedded into capital allocation decisions.

Meanwhile, Sumit Bharat noted that achieving carbon neutrality alongside improvements in water efficiency and climate risk management represents a significant milestone. He emphasised continued focus on community development, workforce wellbeing, and collaborative partnerships to accelerate the energy transition.

Looking forward, BluPine Energy remains committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040. The company plans to further expand its renewable portfolio while deepening ESG integration across operations, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem in India.
